No one bad is ever truly bad. And no one good is ever truly good. Without a doubt, watching the unusual side of the God of Mischief unfold in the current ongoing Loki series is quite fascinating.
But I’m pretty sure the majority of us were never going to know about the existence of characters like Loki, Thor, Odin or Heimdall if they weren’t a part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. I mean, all those characters are actually based on real-life Norse mythology that existed thousands of years ago. Marvel just tweaked their stories and added a bit of their own unique creativity and presented them in front of us.
In the Norse mythology, Loki & Thor aren’t even brothers. Similar to MCU, Thor is the biological son of Odin, but Loki is actually the foster or blood-oathed brother of Odin. So technically he was the step uncle of Thor.
Loki in Norse mythology, was also a cunning trickster who had the ability to change his shape and gender. Loki was the mother of an eight legged horse named Sleipnir and the father of three other children Fenrir, Jormungandr and Hel.
Loki was powerful in both physically and mentally.
As you know Thor was stronger when it comes to physical strength. But he was no match for Loki in the battle of the minds. Loki was the master of manipulative energy. He had the ability to manipulate fire and cause earthquakes just using bare hands.
Although there’s no Thanos in the Norse Mythology, But according to some mythologists, Norse Loki could’ve easily smashed Thanos in a second by combining all the powers he had. I don’t think we’ll ever know the exact answer.
But you already know the answer to that for the MCU Loki. The character had to be nerfed to make others like Ironman or Captain America look good in front of him. So you can say that the Loki in the mythology is way more powerful than the loki you see in the MCU.
But the loki you see in MCU is not the only variant in the comics. That variant of Loki is probably the weakest variant of the God Of Mischief. Another variant known as Necrogod Loki who is the strongest and scariest version of Loki in the comics.
Nercrogod Loki is a future version of the God of Mischief who devoured Ego and obtained the mythical power of All-Black the necrosword. So you can imagine how much more powerful Necogod Loki is compared to Loki you know.
Still, in a battle between Nercogod Loki and Norse Loki, who do you think would win? Let us know in the comment section down below.
